Our History
In April of 1959 two families came together with a desire and longing to see a Baptist Missionary Association (BMA) church in Bryan, TX. After intense prayer and devotion to understanding God’s will for this area the two families united with Enon First Missionary Baptist Church, of Iola, TX. The local association of BMA churches, the Navasota River Association, joined the efforts both prayerfully and financially to bring about a church in Bryan. With door-to-door visiting plus an ad in the Bryan Daily Eagle News people were invited to attend a meeting for discussion of starting a new church. Ten people were in attendance for that meeting.
On Sunday June 5, 1959 the Bryan Mission started with seven charter members. A house was rented on Cavitt Street. The living room and dining area were used for the sanctuary. One room held the children’s Sunday School class. The pastor and his family lived in the other part of the house. The Mission began to grow and the Lord provided. Pews, a piano, song books, and a song leader were added to the church.
